-the situation the story is placed in reminds me much of the devastation after hurricane Katrina, where all government rule is out the window and infrastructure was destroyed many people scavenged, robbed, and hiked for survival.
-a personal experience connection I made was that of, as strange as it sounds video games. There is a video game called Fallout 3 has almost entirely envisioned this post apocalyptic world for me. It brings a interesting twist to the story with such a vivid visual reference for The Road.
-Some problems I am reminded of are actually from my real life experiences, I one participated in a paintball game that lasted 3 days through the nights and I most definitely identify with the father and his son on the issue of hunger. Finding time to eat, and a safe place to do so, was a very difficult and I know just how frustrating it can get.

One circumstance that I can relate to that is almost always a problem in the book it seems, is being very cold. Not just being cold having damp wood and not being able to start a fire easily to warm up. I can assure you it is just as fun as the book proclaims.
Another circumstance that I can relate to is that boy’s distress over helping the other little boy whom he saw. I can relate to this because our property has a dock that the paramedics use to get people out of the river that hurt themselves and it is not uncommon for that person to end up dying.
third time
- I can relate to the man and his boy finding the bunker full of food because, I was in Africa on vacation and could not eat any of the food because it was much too fancy for me then caught the flue because I was not eating enough. The first thing that I did when I came back to the states was to get a double whopper, so I can relate to both the hunger and the joy of finding the food.
- although I can not relate directly to their situation when they happened upon the people who were being cannibalized I can relate to the feeling of terror that they had when they were fleeing the premises because where I live people don’t take very kindly to you accidentally walking on their property and very much enjoy scaring you away with a shotgun blast to the air.

- I can relate to the little boy wanting to help the old man, because I myself have had to help quite a few people out of a bind whether it be a crashed ATV rider or somebody who flipped a boat on the river. Although I cannot say that anybody was ever against me helping those people.
- Another instance that I believe I can relate to on a more basic level is where the man and his boy see the dead baby. This is not to say that I have seen nor have felt what they felt while they saw the baby, but living where I do you end up seeing a couple dead bodies becasue the paramedics use our dock to transport people who get hurt on the river.

What was everybody’s favorite part of the book?
Why don’t we all read a couple of ideas pertaining to our jobs?
I wanted to leave room for discussion to evolve on its own through previous question. Makes sense but also be prepared in case it doesn't evolve :)
